Chanfield Pty Ltd was established in Australia in 1984. The Principal, Robert Oldham, trained in England at Cav/Joseph Lucas. He learned his trade (amongst other things) building special purpose prototype machines, such as Diesel Fuel pumps.

When he arrived in Australia he worked with an American company involved in pipeline construction on various power stations – Bayswater, Loy Yang B, Employed as Production Manager. Then in 1984 he commenced trading as Chanfield, focusing the company on manufacturing precision-machined components.

Our factory staff are fully qualified tradesmen with a total of 125 years experience. The variety of work we produce includes items for the building industry, railways, coal trains and passenger carriages, disabled vehicle modifications and even medical machinery such as MRI machines. In the building industry we have been involved in R&D and the making of ‘Loading Platforms’ for high-rise construction. These platforms are used to convey items from floor to floor.

For the railways, many of the parts we manufacture have further processes that involve molybonding, anodising, heat treatment, plating and specialised paint finishes. Machine capacity comprises of 4 CNC lathes – Swing 480 X 850 Long. Capacity 4 X Machining Centre and these have been increased to Y2100 x X1100 x Z1110. Currently we are preparing to implement ISO9001 – Quality Management and ISO14001 Environment Management Systems and envisage these processes to be fully functional by 2015. We also have manual lathes for jobbing work.
